Wrought Iron Coffee Table
Whenever our friends see our wrought iron coffee table, they are
always surprised. Sometimes, they seem to be politely pretending to
like it, but in general I think that we get more of a positive
reaction than a negative one. Nonetheless, at first is didn't
really fit with anything else in the
room.
We are not
really metal coffee table people. Instead, we like a very organic,
minimalist sort of look. Unfortunately, children often necessitate
compromises in design. No matter what I do, I can't keep the boys
from wrestling in the living room. Although the wrought iron coffee
table has dangers of its own – if someone bangs his head into it,
it could result in a trip to the hospital – nonetheless, it is less
risky than the glass coffee table that we had before.
It is not one of those glass and metal coffee tables, you see.
This one is iron through and through. The whole room has a
different look, in fact, since the boys started to be the old
enough to cause damage. The coffee table wrought iron, in fact, was
not the first thing to go. The first thing to go was the wooden
floor. That was really difficult for my wife. She loves wooden
floors, and has wanted to have them for years. When we were finally
able to afford to move into our own house and get them, we were
both overjoyed. Nonetheless, having kids running around all the
time does not bode well for the longevity of floorboards. The pet
dog didn't help either, and soon the floor was all scuffed and
scratched up. We figured that, instead of having a scratched wooden
floor, we could have a tile one that looked decently
intact.
After that, it was actually comparatively easy to give up our
old furniture. For me, and the furniture doesn't matter that much
as long as it all matches. The wrought iron coffee table looks very
good with the dark leather arm chairs in the room, so everything
seems to fit together well. When I first got that wrought iron
coffee table, it was really hard to conceptualize how it would fit
into the house. It had such a strange look to it – like something
out of another age – that I was pretty sure that it would throw
everything else off as well. Nowadays, I don't know why I was
worried. The metal cafe table looks as natural as the glass one
did.
